Sample Textile Mock Up

Textile Print

Using the same Photoshop illustration from this morning I have repeated the pattern in a smaller format, whilst also adding colour and texure.

Photoshop Drawing

Using Photoshop to create a repeat pattern

I decided to use Photoshop to recreate a location drawing sketch from Sunday's trip to Dundee.  Whilst I normally scan in straight from my sketchbook and then modify, I used Photoshop to draw with instead.
I had drawn a quick study of a building so I was keen to play with colour as the shapes were so interesting.  I began by constructing each building separately and then adding in colour and shapes.  I was working with around 20+ layers so it began to get a tad confusing ;-)

Flattening the image was exciting as I began to see the image beginning to form.  It was my intention to use the sketch as a repeat pattern so I tinkered with the sizing and added a background colour.  As this was an experiment I would be inclined to use a brighter palette and would also use more curves.  I do miss the quirky lines that would normally be apparent in my scanned sketches but overall I was pleased with the overall outcome.

The finished piece :-)

Busy bee in the studio

I'm taking advantage of the long weekend and spending some time in the studio.  Taking a break from collage and currently working on some illustrations on canvas and board with acrylic.
